George Paton has been representing farmers and landowners in the renewables sector since 2003, at the start of the wind turbine boom. In 2011, when German solar farm developers first entered the UK market, George played a key role in negotiating five of the initial ten solar farms, each 5 megawatts, that qualified for the full Feed-in Tariff rates. Since then, he has been involved in over 20 solar farm projects ranging from 20 to 2,550 acres. Recently, George contributed to Green Island Power’s West Barton Solar Project in Lincolnshire, which secured planning permission through a National Infrastructure Planning application for a 440-megawatt solar array set to power 144,000 homes. George Paton is actively engaged in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) negotiations, managing options and leases for agricultural clients. Battery sites are already established and operational in Lincolnshire, Wiltshire, and South Gloucestershire, with each location currently in the early planning stages of expanding the energy storage on the site.
Developers are actively seeking Data Centre sites along the M4 and M5 corridors. Paton Land currently has four such sites in the early planning stages, located in South Gloucestershire near Berkeley and Oldbury power stations, as well as in Swindon and Wiltshire.
